Tiger Woods & Wife Argued Before Crash

Tiger Woods & Wife Argued Before Crash

Multiple law enforcement sources tell TMZ Tiger Woods' early morning accident came right after an argument with his wife, Elin Nordegren.

We're told Elin told cops about the argument at the scene of the accident and Tiger gave the same story to authorities at the hospital where he was treated.

One Florida law enforcement official called it "a domestic issue."

Elin apparently was able to forgive and forget -- according to Windermere Police Chief Daniel Saylor, Nordegren smashed out the back window of Tiger's car to help get him out.

UPDATE -- We're told the Florida Highway Patrol went to Tiger's house this afternoon to talk to him about the accident -- but they were turned away by his wife, who said he was sleeping. The FHP plans to try and talk to Woods again tomorrow.

Tiger Woods is not the only member of his family with a good golf swing. His wife, Elin Nordegren, used her husband's golf clubs to rescue him after the vehicle he was driving got pinned to a tree in an early morning accident the day after Thanksgiving.

Windermere Police officers were the first to respond to the scene that was "spitting distance" from the golfer's home in the gated community of Islesworth, Fla., according to Windermere Police Chief Daniel Saylor.

"When they got there, he was laying in the street," Saylor told PEOPLE. "His wife had broken out the back window with a golf club to get into the vehicle and pull him out."

Saylor did not know how Nordegren managed to pull her husband out, but she was determined to do so. "She used two golf clubs," Saylor says. "She bent one and used another one."

Woods, 33, first hit a fire hydrant and then smashed into a tree, according to two Windermere patrolmen who arrived first at the scene.

"When they got there, they noticed he had lacerations to his lower and upper lip and blood in his mouth and he was in and out of consciousness," Saylor says.

Officers Jason Sipos and Branson McDonald treated Woods before the ambulance arrived. Officer McDonald is a paramedic and began administering first aid. They worked on Woods for 10 to 15 minutes before the Orange County Sheriff's Office and the ambulance arrived, the chief adds.

"They were holding him down because he kept trying to get up and he kept going in and out of consciousness," Saylor says. "They held his head stable for him and basically made sure he didn't move."

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the crash, which took place outside Wood's home. No charges have been filed at this time. It remains unclear what Woods was doing out at that hour.

Windermere Mayor Gary Bruhn told PEOPLE on Friday afternoon that Woods had been treated and released from Health Central Hospital in Ocoee, just outside of Orlando and Islesworth.

Bruhn called the injuries "minor."

Champion golfer Tiger Woods was hospitalized after crashing his car near his home early Friday, according to reports.

Woods, 33, was leaving his house in Orlando, Fla., around 2:25 a.m. when he ran his 2009 Escalade into a fire hydrant and then into a tree on a neighbor's property. The airbags on his car didn't deploy, according to a Florida Highway Patrol report, an indication that he was traveling at under 33 mph.

He was taken to a nearby hospital. According to Orlando Sentinel, hospital officials said he was no longer a patient by 2 p.m. Woods spokesman Glenn Greenspan said the golfer was treated and released in good condition.

The patrol said alcohol was not involved, but the incident is being investigated by authorities. Patrol spokeswoman Kim Montes said Woods was alone in the car. The FHP said that charges are pending.

The Pursuit...

Jamie Cullum has always made my jazz, funk and pop juices mix in me everytime he comes out with a new album.. I love this man. I love his music. He makes Michael Bubble look like an amature... I mean Michael Bubble's music is the same tone and same sound.. I hate it when artist don't want to change.. they have all that talent.. and yet...they don't use it.. Jamie Cullum is the different.. he made the song "Don't stop the music" sound fun and soothing at the same time.. and this song was an anthem for that dance floor... So for anyone who doesn't know this man, but love music.. I HIGHLY SUGGUEST that you should buy this album..

He is in my opinion our generation's Frank Sinatra.. with piszaz!

Kudoes: 5 Stars!!!!
